Privatization of Government Schools March 2024
Punjab government’s decision to privatize government schools across the province, the government schools of the province will be phased under the arrangements of private public partnership. According to the details, while the federal government is making preparations for the privatization of several institutions, the government of Punjab, the largest province of the country, has also started preparations for the privatization of public schools.
According to media reports, the Department of School Education Punjab has decided to privatize government schools across the province and run them under the Private Public Partnership system. In the initial phase, government schools with permanent shortage of teachers will be immediately put under private public partnership arrangements while the department has asked for lists of such schools within a week to speed up the process.
School administrations have been directed to provide detailed information about their facilities including classrooms, staff rooms, halls, locker rooms, total area of the building, and number of students enrolled. On the other hand, teachers’ organizations have strongly opposed the privatization plan and demanded immediate recruitment of new teachers. It has been warned that privatization of schools will increase the cost of education and drastically increase fees at all levels. Abolishing the free textbook system will reduce enrollment in government schools.
پنجاب حکومت کا صوبے بھر کے سرکاری اسکولوں کی نجکاری کا فیصلہ، صوبے کے سرکاری اسکولوں کو مرحلہ وار پرائیویٹ پبلک پارٹنرشپ کے زیر انتظامات کر دیا جائے گا۔ تفصیلات کے مطابق ایک جانب جہاں وفاقی حکومت متعدد اداروں کی نجکاری کی تیاریاں کررہی ہے، وہیں ملک کے سب سے بڑے صوبے پنجاب کی حکومت نے سرکاری اسکولوں کی نجکاری کی بھی تیاریاں شروع کر دیں۔
میڈیا رپورٹس کے مطابق محکمہ اسکول ایجوکیشن پنجاب نے صوبے بھر کے سرکاری اسکولوں کی نجکاری اور انہیں پرائیویٹ پبلک پارٹنرشپ سسٹم کے تحت چلانے کا فیصلہ کرلیا۔ ابتدائی مرحلے میں مستقل اساتذہ کی کمی والے سرکاری اسکولوں کو فوری طور پر پرائیویٹ پبلک پارٹنرشپ کے زیر انتظامات کر دیا جائے گا جبکہ محکمہ نے اس عمل کو تیز کرنے کے لیے ایک ہفتے کے اندر ایسے اسکولوں کی فہرستیں طلب کی ہیں
اسکول انتظامیہ کو ہدایت کی گئی ہے کہ وہ اپنی سہولیات کے بارے میں تفصیلی معلومات فراہم کریں جس میں کلاس رومز، اسٹاف روم، ہال، بند کمرے، عمارت کا کل رقبہ، اور اندراج شدہ طلبا و طالبات کی تعداد شامل ہیں۔ دوسری جانب اساتذہ کی تنظیموں نے نجکاری کے منصوبے کی سخت مخالفت کی ہے اور نئے اساتذہ کی فوری بھرتی کا مطالبہ کیا ہے۔ خبردار کیا گیا ہے کہ اسکولوں کی نجکاری سے تعلیمی اخراجات میں اضافہ اور ہر سطح پر فیسوں میں زبردست اضافہ ہوگا۔ مفت نصابی کتابوں کے نظام کو ختم کرنے سے سرکاری اسکولوں میں طلبا و طالبات کے اندراج میں کمی آئے گی۔
